I went to see Prince last night at MSG….he was amazing!

After the show, we went to Schiller’s for noshing and cocktails.
Schiller’s Liquor Bar
CHOW FAVES of the evening: Oysters, Fries, Sliders, and Sticky Toffee Pudding.
SIP: Champagne and Cocktails.
A friend we were with is friends with Adrien Brody so he joined us, and I happened to be sitting right next to him at our table at Schiller’s. He’s a great guy. You know I had to get the Foodie 411 before the night was over, and I did! Here are a few restos Adrien spoke highly of….BTW- I’m in total agreement with his picks.
Donatella’s casual Neapolitan pizzeria didn’t feel like a traditional NYC pizza spot (like Co, Otto, Arturo’s, etc). It had more of a chic, suburban restaurant feel.
We went there for the pizza (after all, a pro from Naples came in to build the blinged out oven), and to our surprise became fans of a few of the non-pizza dishes.
In no particular order, these were my top 15 spots (well, really 17…a mix of old and new) to Sip, Chat, & Chow this year. I’m sure I’ll be taking most of them into 2011.
1- Scarpetta: There’s something for every palate.
Polenta with truffled mushrooms
2- A Michael White Double: Marea and Osteria Morini.
Marea-Elegant Italian seafood heaven!
Osteria Morini- Casual Italian spot with old-world decor- serving up Italian goodness for every meal.
3- Corsino: Inventive small and large Italian plates in a charming atmosphere with a solid wine list.
4- Hotel Griffou: Cool vibe, tasty cocktails, and good grub!
Butternut Squash Tagliolini
Caramel Banana Pudding
5- L’Artusi: You’ll love everything- the food, decor, wine list, and service.
Roasted Mushrooms: fried egg, pancetta, ricotta salata
The food at The Slanted Door was delicious! Everything we ate was just as good or better than the dish before. This Modern Vietnamese resto offers up a variety of flavors, textures, and unexpected combinations.
I loved the open dining room with the Bay Bridge front and center. The gorgeous view is reason enough for a visit.
My friend Julie and I had dinner at The Lion with Chef John DeLucie last week. John is certainly taming the Lion! He has created an amazing restaurant off the heels of his time as executive chef at The Waverly Inn. John is an awesome guy and chef!
Dinner was filled with fabulous food, great conversation, scrumptious cocktails, and a celebration. John just opened his new resto in Miami-The Royal at The Raleigh Hotel. He’s bringing his down home American-style-fare to South Beach!
Every night at The Lion, it’s a ” who’s who” of celebs, and this night was no different. Fashion royalty was in the house- Calvin Klein and Carolina Herrera.
