New Modern Japanese Resto: Yuba
Yuba comes to us by way of 2 former Masa (the critically acclaimed Japanese resto) alums – serving modern Japanese fare. It’s a casual, chill spot glammed up with culinary delights such as wagyu skewers and caviar-topped oysters.
There was a thoughtful presentation to each course. I loved the plates and flatware.
The menu has traditional Japanese dishes along with more unique delights featuring high-end ingredients and influences from China and Italy.
Oysters with Caviar- Plenty juicy and tender.
Mushrooms- Lacking in flavor and a bit too dry.
Soup Infused Pork Steamed Dumplings- Delicious!
Risotto Style Lobster Rice with Black Truffle- I enjoyed the dish but it was in serious need of SALT!
Sushi- Extremely fresh.
Cucumber Roll topped with Hamachi and Jalapeno- Big fan of this roll!
THE SWEET SPOT:
Yuzu Cheesecake- A wonderful light option for dessert. It was smooth and creamy with a lemon twist, and the sponge cake added a nice layer of texture.
SIP: They don’t have their liquor license yet so it was BYOB.
CHAT: I’d definitely give Yuba another try. They are still working out a few kinks.
