Adventures of The Glam Foodie in LA: Red O
We had a fabulous evening at Red O! The upscale Mexican resto (menu created by Rick Bayless) has all the fixin’s for a wonderful night- good food, tasty cocktails and a chill vibe. Beautifully and impeccably designed- the decor is cool, relaxed and chic.
The menu is broad, and offers a modern spin on traditional Mexican dishes. The bold flavors, top notch ingredients and amazing saucing produced pure “Food Porn” throughout the evening!
Sea Scallops Ceviche- Light and tasty with a good blend of flavors and textures!
Sweet Plaintains Sopes- Great play on sweet and savory.
Corn and Goat Cheese Tamales- Creamy and not too rich. The corn and goat cheese complimented each other in an unexpected way.
Shrimp Empanaditas- One of my faves- I was popping them like chips! I couldn’t get enough.
Braised Shortribs Enchiladas- Fantastic- well balanced.
Red Fish with Roasted Poblanos and Veggies- Perfectly prepared and the sauce was delish!
Pork Shoulder and Belly, Homemade Chorizo, Potatoes, Avocado, Queso Fresco- The pork was tender and flavorful!
Shrimp- The shrimp had a nice smoky taste to it- well seasoned!
THE SWEET SPOT:
I wasn’t a huge fan of the desserts but the cocktails, apps and entrees made up for it!
Tres Leche Cake – It was missing something…
Lime Cake with Lemon Sorbet and Citrus Salad- Refreshing!
Buuelos – The salted caramel ice cream added a nice touch.
SIP: Slammin’ Margaritas!
