It’s about time Chef David Burke headed downtown. His new subterranean resto in The James Hotel is rustic-chic with a menu influenced by local ingredients and eccentric touches.
David Burke is one of my faves- he puts a kitschy spin on upscale dishes. The inventive and playful menu presented at David Burke Kitchen didn’t disappoint. We had brunch there last Sunday and it was delicious. There’s something for everyone- eggs, salads, steak, fish, and a host of other treats.
CHOW FAVES:
Tomato/Eggplant/Ricotta Jar- There was an unexpected sweetness to it that I didn’t like.
Chicken & Waffles- I really enjoyed the cheddar laced waffles. It had a nice spicy kick to it. This is a must-have dish!
Kitchen Omelet- The combination of bacon, spinach, potato, goat cheese and walnut vinaigrette was tasty.
Lobster Scramble- There was a great blend of flavors. A nice departure from traditional egg dishes. (Sorry, I took a pic but it was fuzzy!)
Herbed Mac & Cheese- Pure cheesy goodness. It was love at first bite! The prosciutto wrapped egg added a nice touch.
THE SWEET SPOT:
Cheesecake Lollipops- Divine! These small treats are perfect in size and taste.
SIP:
Mimosas
CHAT: I can’t wait to go back for dinner. And you must check out Jimmy- the rooftop bar. They have amazing cocktails and a gorgeous view.
