Restaurant and nightlife impresario Serge Becker (of La Esquina, Cafe Select and The Box) has done it again! He created yet another spot with a cool-ass vibe, and put a hipster spin on ethnic food. This time it’s Miss Lily’s in the West Village/Soho. The low-key, kitschy-chic resto specializes in modern Jamaican/Caribbean cuisine. The menu is filled with traditional Jamaican staples with a twist. The food is rich, flavorful and tasty.

Miss Lily’s is more than a restaurant, it’s a highly curated scene. The front room has a diner feel while the back room is more edgy. The walls are laced with reggae album covers and the corner houses a resident DJ spinning Reggae, Soca and Calypso.

I went to Miss Lily’s this past weekend and I was really digging the vibe. The apps and the soundtrack were the real winners here!

Cod Fish Fritters- These scrumptious bite-sized fish cakes were delish!

Ackee Dip And Plantain Chips- The chips were crispy, and the ackee dip was smooth and delectable.

Smoked Mackerel Salad Avocado, Pickled Red Onion, Citrus- Refreshing with a great balance of flavors. I loved the salty elements of the mackerel spilling over onto the pickled onions.

Hellshire Style Fried Whole Fish with Escoveitch Veggies- I was really hoping for more- it was bland and uninspiring.

Whole Snapper Steamed with Okra, Tomato, Carrot- The fish was so juicy, and the veggie medley really added to the essence of the dish.

Oxtail Stew- Hearty….and the meat was so tender it slid right off the bone.

SIP: Good menu filled with tropical brews and cocktails.

3/25/11 Addition- CHAT: We headed back to Miss Lily’s for late night eats and good beats. The DJ was killing it. It definitely turns into a jumping spot after midnight.

I dined at Miss Lily’s recently, and ordered completely opposite of you (although my sentiments were the same).
Curry Goat: fall-off-the-bone tender, perfect level of spice, Banana Cream Pudding: a tropical delight, Red Snapper ceviche: great blend of textures and flavors

I’m definitely going back for seconds!
