Sara Jenkins (of Porchetta) is focused on pasta at her new resto Porsena, and it paid off! Most of the pasta dishes are fab! Porsena is an affordable neighborhood spot with a casual and warm atmosphere. I love the exposed brick and homey feel. The food is simple yet delicious.

CHOW FAVES:

Wilted Escarole Salad with Croutons, Shaved Parmigiano and Garlic Dressing- This salad was terrific and the flavors were on point.

Mozzarella Crostini- Cheesy, toasty and tasty!

Palermo Market Salad: Romaine, Cucumber, Red Onion, Lemon and Oregano- Light and refreshing!

Ear Shaped Pasta, Spicy Lamb Sausage and Mustard Greens- Fantastic….spicy, creamy and flavorful! I wiped my bowl clean. One of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in a long time. Perfectly prepared and seasoned.

Lasanga- I loved the crispy and bubbling cheese crust. The bechamel sauce added a nice touch but overall the dish was in serious need of salt.

THE SWEET SPOT:

Lemon Olive Oil Cake- Very moist.

SIP: Reasonably priced wine list.

Porsena- 21 East 7th St / 212-228-4923
