I caught up with my girl Amber the other day when she was in New York and got her Sip, Chat, Chow! We had a lot to talk about because she has so much going on! She’s in talks with VH1 about a reality show, just signed on to be a part of the Foxxhole team- hosting a weekly radio show on Sirius XM, and so much more. It’s great to see her doing her thing. Congrats, QT! You deserve it all!

Amber loves to cook for her friends and family but when she’s ready for a night out- here are her favorite spots!

Pop up restaurants have been all the rage in NYC… The Feast, The Thirst Underground Wine Society, Maharlika Filipino Pop Up Brunch and The James Beard Foundation in Chelsea Market. And the most recent addition comes to us from Dovetail’s John Fraser, What Happens When. John raised the money through kickstarter- how cool is that!

What Happens When is a 9 month pop up (that will run through the summer) with a monthly rotation of the menu and theme (design and music) which they call movements. They are currently on movement 3, drawing inspiration from a renown Impressionistic painting. It’s about taking a trip together into the 1880′s France via 2011 New York.

The quaint dinner party setting coupled with great service and extreme attention to detail creates a unique dining experience.

I have to say- What Happen When offers pretty amazing food at a great price- $58 prix fixe menu for 3 courses. The experimental menu is on point- flavorful dishes, unique accompaniments and a wonderful presentation (plating).

This is a timely post since Conde Nast just ranked Brooklyn one of the world’s 15 best places to visit!

L&B Spumoni Gardens is a Brooklyn institution! Brooklynites and people from all over flock to L&B for their crispy, slightly sweet sauce that lays on top of the cheese square slice. I’ve loved it since I was a kid growing up in Brooklyn, and it’s still one of my faves. PS- You can top it off with Spumoni ice cream or an Italian ice.
