My twin sister and I went to an old friend’s birthday dinner on Saturday night at En Japanese Brasserie. I’m glad the festivities took place there because I was reintroduced to the modern and airy Japanese resto. I hadn’t been there in over 2 years. The night was filled with great conversations, cool peeps, terrific food and wonderful service.
En Japanese Brasserie is more than meets the eye. When you take time to review the menu you see that this authentic Japanese eatery has a very broad appeal. If you’re vegan, a vegetarian, in the mood for sushi or even fried chicken- they have it covered! There wasn’t anything I tried that I didn’t like.
The elegant yet laid back resto delivers creative and tasty tapas-style Japanese dishes in a unique setting. The open kitchen adds a level of excitement to the main dining room, and if you want something a bit more intimate, they have tatami rooms that are tucked away in the back.
En will definitely be added to my Japanese resto rotation. And the next time I go I’ll try the tofu!
CHOW FAVES:
Edamame- It was soaked in dashi so it had a nice smoky taste.
Tuna & Avocado Salad with Wasabi Soy Dressing- Fresh and savory.
En House Salad- The creamy soy milk dressing and toasted walnuts were a good combination….great textures and flavors!
Miso Black Cod- It was perfectly seasoned and melted in my mouth!
Fried Chicken- Light and tasty…a nice surprise.
Salmon Clay Ricepot- Richly flavored.
SIP: Good cocktails and a wide range of sake.
CHAT: En is perfect for large groups (they have private rooms upstairs) and offers a vast array of tastings and events. Weekend brunch service starts next month- stay tuned for my review.
