There’s no shortage of Spanish tapas spots in Chelsea, the area is flanked with good ones- Boqueria, Tia Pol, El Quinto Pino and Socarraat. So, Salinas had some stiff competition coming in…and they rose to the occasion!

The unique, airy Mediterranean vibe set in a loungy space with ocean blue banquettes and a retractable roof gives you the best of both worlds- indoor and outdoor dining. And the front bar area is perfect for cocktails and a few small bites.

The menu is packed with classic and seasonal tapas along with must-haves like paella.

CHOW FAVES:

Grilled Country Bread with Garlic, Tomatoes and Olive Oil- It reminded me of bruschetta but it was more of a puree.

Tuna Ceviche- Fresh and tasty.

Brussel Sprouts and Green Cauliflower with Yogurt, Mint and Pimentón De La Vera- A nice blend of flavors and textures.

Quail Wrapped in Bacon- Tender and savory.

Strip Steak- Cooked to perfection and the sauce was out of this world!

Chicken- Average.

SIP:

The owners (husband and wife) were terrific. They sent over a few glasses of champagne.

THE SWEET SPOT:

Caramelized Spanish French Toast with Vanilla Gelato- I want this for breakfast! The French toast oozed yummy goodness.

Passion Fruit Semifredo with Rice Pudding – A refreshing dessert that melts in your mouth.

Salinas – 136  9th Ave / 212-776-1990
