We can add another “HIT” to Daniel Boulud’s empire. Boulud Sud is one of the best performances around Lincoln Center. The room exudes a clean, casual elegance with a high comfort level. Boulud Sud delivers a wonderful collection of inspired Mediterranean dishes (wandering to Italy, France, Spain, Greece and Turkey ) that are beautifully plated. There were so many enticing things on the menu, so we decided to go with a few shareable snacks and large plates.

CHOW FAVES:

Octopus A La Plancha- Cooked to perfection, and every bite was full of flavor.

Chickpea and Eggplant Hummus- Tasty and creamy.

Saffron Linguini with Razor Clams- Strikingly good! The lemon and buttery coating was amazing.

Turbot- Artfully prepared.

Broccoli Rabe- Unexpected peppery kick.

Saffron Fregola- This is rare on menus, and it didn’t disappoint. Great texture.

SIP:

France Chateau de Pourcieux, Cotes de Provence 2012- Rose´ – Lovely and refreshing.

THE SWEET SPOT:

Chocolate-Olive Oil Cake with Poached Apricots- Average.

Almond-Pistachio Cake with Strawberries and Ice Cream- It was just as good as it looks. The combination of the moist cake with berries and ice cream was fantastic.

Boulud Sud- 20 West 64th Street between Broadway and Central Park West / 212-595-1313
