John Dory (in the Ace Hotel from April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman) is a seafood lovers playground. I love the unique pairings and flawless preparations set in this casual gastropub. The inventive tapas style menu compliments the layout, seating and quirky decor.
Come prepared for a wait because they don’t take ressies.
CHOW FAVES:
Parker House Rolls- These are a must!
Oysters- It comes with their own blended cocktail sauce….the perfect accompaniment!

Poached Lobster with Tomalley Vinaigrette- Fresh and tasty.
Shrimp- You eat it all, even the skin. It’s delicious!
Roasted Beets and Smoked Trout- Great flavor profiles.
Mortadella Stuffed Mussels – I get this every time….it’s strikingly good!
Brussel Sprouts with Pancetta, Scharfe Maxx and Mushrooms- A medley of goodness.
THE SWEET SPOT-
Trecale- It’s kind of like pound cake doused in a cream sauce. A great way to end the meal- definitely meant to be shared because of the richness.
SIP-
A terrific tequila, honey and jalapeno cocktail.
