Fooderati: World Class Food At The World’s Most Famous Arena

Sep 30 2011

As Madison Square Garden undergoes a makeover, there’s more than just suites, seats and concourses being upgraded. The world’s top chefs are taking their talents to the most iconic arena in world- MSG! The food offerings at The Garden are being glammed up by Chefs Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Andrew Carmellini, restaurateur Drew Nieporent and Aquagrill’s chef and owner Jeremy Marshall. They have each created exclusive offerings as part of the new MSG Signature Collection available in The Garden beginning this Fall. NYC restaurants Carnegie Deli, Hill Country and Magnolia Bakery will also be a part of the new Garden menu.

I was excited to attend the tasting of MSG’s Signature Collection on Tuesday to try their new culinary offerings. After sampling all the dishes, I walked away very full and delighted. My favorites were the Chicken Hot Dog with Kim Chee and Spicy Mustard, Daily Burger with Bacon and Onion Jam, and The Lobster Shrimp Roll.

Simply Chicken from Jean-Georges- Chicken Hot Dog with Kim Chee and Spicy Mustard; Sliced Chicken Salad, Carrot- Miso Dressing; Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Asian Pears, Thai Mayonnaise (Housemade Pickles, Basil, Potato Chips).

Daily Burger from top restauranteur Drew Nieporent- Daily Burger with Cheese, Bacon & Onion Jam; Daily Burger with Green Tomato Relish; Daily Burger; French Fries.

I caught up with recording artist and Broadway star CHESTER GREGORY last week, and discovered that he’s quite the foodie. He’s currently starring in Whoopi Goldberg’s production of Sister Act as Officer Eddie Southers.

Chester recently wrapped up the National Tour of “Dreamgirls” the musical, where he received rave reviews for his portrayal of “James ‘Thunder’ Early”. The role won him a “Best Actor” award from Broadway World and a “Best Actors This Year” mention in the NY Post. He’s currently in the studio working on his sophomore release, writing with Dot Da Genius. This will be the highly anticipated follow up to his debut album entitled- “In Search of High Love”, which earned praise by Billboard Magazine as “An album of integrity and soul”.

A Sicilian In Brooklyn: L&B Spumoni Gardens

Apr 03 2011

This is a timely post since Conde Nast just ranked Brooklyn one of the world’s 15 best places to visit!

L&B Spumoni Gardens is a Brooklyn institution! Brooklynites and people from all over flock to L&B for their crispy, slightly sweet sauce that lays on top of the cheese square slice. I’ve loved it since I was a kid growing up in Brooklyn, and it’s still one of my faves. PS- You can top it off with Spumoni ice cream or an Italian ice.

L&B Spumoni Gardens- 2725 86th St., Brooklyn, NY 11223 / 718-449-1230
