Sara Jenkins (of Porchetta) is focused on pasta at her new resto Porsena, and it paid off! Most of the pasta dishes are fab! Porsena is an affordable neighborhood spot with a casual and warm atmosphere. I love the exposed brick and homey feel. The food is simple yet delicious.
It’s about time Chef David Burke headed downtown. His new subterranean resto in The James Hotel is rustic-chic with a menu influenced by local ingredients and eccentric touches.
David Burke is one of my faves- he puts a kitschy spin on upscale dishes. The inventive and playful menu presented at David Burke Kitchen didn’t disappoint. We had brunch there last Sunday and it was delicious. There’s something for everyone- eggs, salads, steak, fish, and a host of other treats.
The crew from Lure take it from the sea to the land of burgers and wine. Burger & Barrel rocks! It’s not your average burger joint. They have a great selection of food, and all kinds of burgers including a $45 truffle burger. I didn’t try it but friends say it’s off the hook!
The bustling resto is cozy with a classy, rustic atmosphere. Tasty apps, excellent burgers, good wine/beer , and cool beats (they had a killer playlist) is what a night at Burger & Barrel delivers!
We had a fabulous evening at Red O! The upscale Mexican resto (menu created by Rick Bayless) has all the fixin’s for a wonderful night- good food, tasty cocktails and a chill vibe. Beautifully and impeccably designed- the decor is cool, relaxed and chic.
The menu is broad, and offers a modern spin on traditional Mexican dishes. The bold flavors, top notch ingredients and amazing saucing produced pure “Food Porn” throughout the evening!
I love NYC Restaurant Week because it gives you a chance to Sip, Chat, Chow at some of NY’s top restaurants for a fraction of the price. On this particular night, we ventured downtown to SHO. And it was yet another great night of fine dining and fabulous food.
Sho’s chic, modern and elegant decor transports you into a world of exquisite sophistication. The wine corridor is magnificent- rows of wine bottles encased in glass with a long middle bar topped with candles.
This is a place fit for foodies. The global accented French fare provides a perfect combination of flavors and textures. And I can’t forget about the impeccable service.
