I’m sure that you’ve realized by now that The Lion is one of my favorite spots. So, I was really happy when they added brunch to their weekend rotation. Brunch at the Lion was just what I expected it to be- American-style fare with a twist. There was a good balance of sweet and savory dishes on the menu.
BRUNCH CHOW FAVES:
The crew from Lure take it from the sea to the land of burgers and wine. Burger & Barrel rocks! It’s not your average burger joint. They have a great selection of food, and all kinds of burgers including a $45 truffle burger. I didn’t try it but friends say it’s off the hook!
The bustling resto is cozy with a classy, rustic atmosphere. Tasty apps, excellent burgers, good wine/beer , and cool beats (they had a killer playlist) is what a night at Burger & Barrel delivers!
It was hard to pin down Pos because he travels all over the world touring with De La Soul. But in the end, Pos made it happen. Come to think of it, he owed me one. Besides the fact that we’ve been friends for over 10 years, I lent my MC skills to the intro of “Declaration” (Track 10) from “Art Official Intelligence”. Listen closely- LOL!
I knew his faves would include an eclectic mix of restaurants that span the globe. Check out Pos’ Sip, Chat, Chow Global flow:
Sparks is an old-world NY masculine, pricey, Italian-style steakhouse. It’s part of NYC’s mobster history (mob boss Paul Castellanos was gunned down here by Gotti’s henchmen back in 1985) which gives it cachet.
This wise guy of a steakhouse was good but I prefer the “All Stars”- Del Frisco’s, Dylan Prime, Strip House, Wolfgang’s, Keens, etc. You should definitely give it a try though, if you love steak!
Sparks offers top quality steaks, descent sides, and mediocre service.
