I had dinner at Kenmare during opening week (late March), and have been back a few times since. It’s an elegant and modern spot, and so is the crowd! The food is pretty good but they seem to be focused more on the scene.
Featuring a new american menu- my CHOW FAVES are:
Sometimes you need to shake things up. I wanted something different for this Sunday’s brunch outing. So we went to Kittichai. I’ve been for dinner but never for brunch.
This Thai fusion resto has an innovative menu with an equally pleasing dining room. The decor is chic and elegant with the reflecting pool, bottled orchids, buddhas and candles.
The All-You-Can-Drink brunch for $25 is a steal- and there’s a pretty good selection of brunch dishes with a Thai twist- eggs, pancakes, french toast, salads, pad thai and more!
The vibe was upbeat with a good crowd and cool playlist.
This spot was featured in my Fall line-up, and I was dying to check it out.
Michael White strikes again- but this time with a casual and cozy Italian resto. When you first walk in it feels like a family-style restaurant that should be in Little Italy. The predominately wood decor gives it a very homely feel.
There was so much to choose from on the menu- sliced meats, salads, crostini’s, pasta, meat and fish! I couldn’t wait to dive in. We started with olive bread, and a perfectly balanced spread of olive oil. It was in the cutest little bottle.
The Donald’s new hotel condo houses Quattro Gastronomia. I checked it out in late April. The Soho Italian resto definitely had a cool and sleek feel with columns and mirrored tiles. The food was tasty and full of bold flavors…….sorry I can’t say the same about the crowd. It’s still early (remember this was reviewed in April) so I’m sure Quattro will begin to establish a more consistent clientele.
CHOW FAVES: The notable dishes were the main lobster salad, fontina ravioli, seared turbot and tuna w. salsa verde
SIP: Terrific wine selection
THE SWEET SPOT: We topped things off with light and fluffy doughnuts with various fillings.
CHAT: BTW- The chef is an identical twin! They worked together at their Miami outpost but split up to open the NYC location. Also, check out the outdoor space- Bar D’eau (it’s closed for the season now because it’s too chilly).
Quattro Gastronomia- 246 Spring Street / 212-842-4500
CHOW FAVES: Peanut butter cup, Red velvet, Cookie dough, PB+J and Cookies and cream.
CHAT: I often send and bring these bite-sized treats to friends and clients….AND it’s always a HIT! I recently had these at an event my friend Jen and I hosted- Couture, Cocktails & Cupcakes.
Baked By Melissa- 529 Broadway (small outpost with window service in Soho) and 7 East 14th St (this one is an actual shop)
